Eileen Marie Bastuk, 78, of Saginaw, passed away on Friday, May 23, 2025, at MyMichigan Medical Center in Midland. She was born on October 21, 1946, in Saginaw, the daughter of the late John and Rose (Yaruczewski) Bastuk.
Eileen was an avid Detroit Tigers fan who loved watching and listening to their games. She enjoyed playing bingo and had previously helped run bingo nights at the Polish Falcons Women’s Auxiliary at Pulaski Hall alongside her mother.
Eileen had a passion for cooking, especially traditional Polish dishes. In earlier years, she was an enthusiastic mushroom hunter, often searching for the elusive morel mushroom in northern Michigan. She frequently chose to spend Mother’s Day in the woods rather than at formal events. She was a devoted cat lover who cherished the many cats she cared for over the years.
Throughout her life, Eileen enjoyed various crafts and especially loved visiting craft fairs in search of unique, handmade items. She also had a fondness for road trips, often exploring antique stores and other one-of-a-kind shops.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Jodie Bastuk, and her beloved grandsons, Alexander, Graham, and Landon, all of Brownsburg, Indiana. She also leaves behind special cousins Vicky Lawson, Becky Bastuk, and Lori Cichowski, along with many dear friends and extended family members.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Brittany Manor Nursing Home and MyMichigan Medical Center for the compassionate care Eileen received.
In accordance with her wishes, there will be no funeral or memorial service. Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life gathering is being planned for late summer in the Saginaw/Midland area. If you are interested in attending, please contact Michael at [email protected].
