James L. Simon, 93, of Coleman joined his best friend and dance partner, Wednesday October 9, 2024. He was born October 1, 1931 in Shepherd the son of the late Peter & Anna (Starich) Simon.
Jim married Phyllis P. Methner June 4, 1955 in Coleman. She preceded him in death February 16, 2019. He served with the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Jim retired from the Dow Chemical Company in 1986 after 35 years of employment. He enjoyed the outdoors: hunting and fishing with his son-in-law, grandson and granddaughter.
Survivors include his daughter Tammy & Kim Haller of Coleman, grandchildren Kelsey, Dylan and his wife Alysha, 2 great-grandchildren, Brooks, Makenna, sister Mary Dunlop, sisters-in-law Mary Simon, JoAnn Diment, Lori Anthony, Kasey Dennis, many nieces and nephews. Jim was also preceded in death by his brothers: Paul, Alex, Steve, Joseph and Ernest Simon, sisters Anne Beamish and Margaret Morrison.
Cremation has taken place. A memorial luncheon will be held 1:00 pm Saturday November 9, 2024 at the Coleman VFW Post #1071. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Coleman VFW Post #1071.
