Phyllis A. Middleton, 83, of Coleman, died Wednesday August 30, 2023 at Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak. She was born September 28, 1939 in Mt. Pleasant, the daughter of the late Allen & Mary (Cornell) Phipps.
Phyllis A. Phipps married Gerald “Jim” Middleton in Coleman April 22, 1961. He preceded her in death July 22, 2000. Phyllis loved spending time with her grandkids and the family trips to the upper peninsula. She enjoyed gardening both flowers and vegetables and canning the excess vegetables, tending to the animals in the barn and journaling.
Survivors include her children: Rosemary Middleton & Joe Barnes, of Coleman, Michael Middleton of Coleman, Jerry & Tammara Middleton of Coleman, grandchildren: Samantha, Taylor, Joel, Jordan, Jadyne, Travis, Melissa, Riley, Ryan, 10 great-grandchildren, sister Mary Lou & Frederick “Rick” Middleton of Coleman, several nieces and nephews. Phyllis was also preceded in death by her brother Robert Phipps.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 am Wednesday September 6, 2023 at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church in Sanford with Fr. Daniel Fox, OFM, Cap officiating. Burial will be in the Warren Township Cemetery, Coleman. Friends may call at the O’Laughlin Funeral Home, Inc. on Tuesday from 2-4 & 6-8 pm and at the church on Wednesday starting at 10 am until the time of services. Those who wish may direct memorials to the family.
