Phillips, Lonny Lee, age 78, of Shepherd, passed away June 24, 2024, at Isabella County Medical Center in Mt. Pleasant, MI.

A memorial service for Lonny will be held at Potter’s House Family Worship Center at 5346 E. Deerfield Rd., Mt. Pleasant, MI, on Tuesday, July 16, 2024, at 11:00 A.M. with Pastors Ron and Carla Ives officiating.  The family will receive friends at the church from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service.  Lunch will be served after the memorial service.

Lonny was born on May 24, 1946, the youngest son of Harold and Clistie (Brewster) Phillips. His wife, Peggy J. (McClain) Phillips, passed away July 14, 2022, at home.  Lonny and Peggy shared a passion of working in the mission fields and had traveled and worked in Haiti, Guatemala, and Africa with Heart Cry International.  After Peggy’s death, Lonny continued this work in Uganda with Shekhinah International Kidz Foundation.  It was his hope to impact others with his “Seed Farm Ministries” vision and goal of planting both physical and spiritual seeds to impact communities with life skills and spiritual growth.  A robust man of faith, his mind was ever on these subjects: how to plant, irrigate, grow, and harvest – physical crops as well as spiritually.

Lonny had a great sense of humor.  He loved the outdoors and had mastered hunting, trapping, and fishing.  He sang and yodeled, played euchre, and could carry a conversation with complete strangers like old friends. Whatever he did, he did it whole-heartedly; and he impacted many people’s lives.

Lonny is survived by his children: Lori (Greg) Miiller, Lisa (Bill) Maxwell, Lonna (Jay) Allen, Kevin (Julie) McClain.

Grandchildren: Andrew Miiller, Caleb Miiller, Alisha (James) Brandon, Shane (Deanna) Miiller, Bethany (Sullivan Goodman) Miiller, Joshua (Karlee) Miiller, Nathanael Miiller, Jacob Lusk, Zachary (Kelsey) Lusk, Ciera Allen, Elizabeth Allen, Cody (Paige) McClain, Joey McClain.

Great-Grandchildren: Ella Brandon, Amelia Brandon, Callen Brandon, Alina Lusk, Jayson Valentine, Sterling Miiller, Theodore McClain, Milo McClain.

Siblings:  Harold (RoseMary) Phillips, Robert (Becky) Phillips, Larry (Judy) Phillips, William (Sonya) Phillips, Sharon Manee, and sister-in-law Bonnie Phillips.  He also has many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was pre-deceased by his wife Peggy (McClain) Phillips, his parents Harold and Clistie Phillips, brother Donald Phillips, sisters Karen Kalahar and Janet McKimmy, nephews Michael and Kirk McKimmy and Kevin Kalahar.
